Montepulciano
Wine
Bird in Hand Montepulciano is sourced from a single vineyard in the warmer northern Adelaide Hills. The rocky, well drained soils are perfectly suited to Italian varietals.
The grapes are destemmed and crushed before fermenting with cultured yeast in small open tanks. The juice spends a week on skins to develop colour, flavour and tannins.
The wine matures in seasoned French oak for one year before bottling.
Deep red, Bird in Hand Montepulciano is supple, with generous fruit flavours and rustic tannins. Cellaring potential is six years.
